Last weekend I went to the Hanami convention in Ludwigshafen, Germany. I finally got to meet friends from home again after more than a month of living away. We took the opportunity to take some Kurobas cosplay pictures!

Livestream died on me, but I still got some work done on these! It was a joy to shoot with Naraku in the snow today, even though we got snowed in at the end.

I took two photos from 2010 of the lovely lucillesmiles and lovelykryptonite and edited them again, because I thought these ladies deserved to get better pictures. (But I also needed some pretty pictures to embellish this post, haha!)

So after a good year of taking no pictures at all, I want to get back into cosplay photography. You can find examples of my photography work in this post or on my photo tag. If you’re from Germany and are attending Animuc or live close to Stuttgart or don’t mind travelling, I am looking for people and cosplayers to photograph!

I got a new version of Photoshop today and wanted to try it out in comparison to what I did on my old and trusty PS CS2. In Spring 2011, I took some cosplay pictures of Aigue-Marine as Miss Martian. The second one is another picture from the cosplay shoot, but now edited with the new software. I really like how it turned out, there has been some progress with the editing!

I was a bit nervous at first, because Connichi is an anime/manga convention and I was afraid no one would even recognise me, but I got a lot of positive comments on my costume. I’m very happy with the way it turned out and I even got to have a mini photo shoot with Andy, who takes the most awesome pictures (see above for proof.) Photo by Andy K. a.k.a. y-o-s-s-i: Wonder Woman: 90% completion. I have never felt this comfortable in a costume. Ever.Nor have I been this pleased with the outcome of a costume. At least not for a very long time. Only things missing are the golden parts on the shoes, a proper lasso (the one in the picture is plan B) and seamless underwear. And no, that’s not my final make-up. That’s what my everyday make-up looks like after a work day. I think I’ll post a full WIP on my blog this weekend with some more detail shots, but I don’t know yet if I can find the time to write it. how is everything you touch perfect anja like really

I like to think it’s watching Winchesters cry on television - seeing muscled men shed manly tears about how they let the apocalypse happen or how they messed up their relationships by either damning their boyfriends and girlfriends to hell or letting them die a gory death which could easily have been prevented, somehow it makes you think, hey, whatever is going on, it could be so much worse: you could have released Lucifer from his cage! Or you could have been forced to kill your werewolf girlfriend! Or you could be stuck in TV land as a wannabe doctor operating on your brother who’s also a doctor but not really!

It puts everything in perspective somehow, so much that I didn’t even get upset when I tried to open the cereal box today and it ended in a very unfortunate explosion of cereal.

Positive thinking helps finish projects more or less successfully, sometimes.

Also, the fact that I have amazing friends who don’t get tired of taking pictures of my face.

Also, the fact that there are crazy people on the internet who somehow appreciate me dressed up in silly clothes and call it nice things like perfect when it’s really not that much.

Anja, I love you, your face, and this commentary.
